Week 1- Home MTC
Hey everybody!
I've officially finished week one of home MTC. Home MTC definitely has its pros and cons, pros being that I get to be home with my family, but zoom meetings all day are not fun. I'm in zoom meetings for 7 hours a day! But, I've been learning so much. I start out my mornings with a MTC workshop, and that's for the entire MTC. Then I have a 3 hour Portugues lesson with Irmão Conquista. After lunch, I have a 3 hour Preach My Gospel lesson that is taught by Irmã Prazeres. They are both awesome teachers. After dinner I have personal study, language study, companion study and time with my companion.
My companion is super awesome, her name is Sis Tueller. She's from SLC Utah. Everyone in my district is pretty cool. There are 6 other missionaries in my district. There were supposed to be 7, but one of the Elders got reassigned to the Provo MTC. So in my district we have Sis Tueller, Sis Egbert (she's from arizona) and Sis Ruchti (from American Fork). All of the sisters seem super nice. Then for the Elders we have Elder Brewer (from SLC), Elder Hughes (from Idaho) and Elder Young (from West Virginia). Elder Brewer and Sis Tueller actually went to the same High School and graduated in the same class. And after Elder Young finishes his mission, he is going to be coming down to SUU. What a small world, right??
One thing i've done this week to help keep my sanity is go on a bunch of long walks. I go on a walk in the morning, at lunch and after dinner. That way I can enjoy the fresh air and get my steps in. I've been walking roughly 3-4 miles a day. For those of you who don't know, my family has a step challenge where you need to get 7500 steps a day Mon-Sat and 5000 on Sun to have your name entered into a drawing. I made sure that my watch can track my steps, that way I can still be an active participant. Yesterday I got 11000 ish steps! On the first day of MTC I didn't have any time to go on a walk so I was in a super bad mood by the end of the day. Exercise is important yall, there is a reason why it is built into the missionary schedule.
Today I am going to go see the new How to Train Your Dragon movie with my family, which I am super excited about. I hope that all of you have had an amazing week, I love and miss all of you so much!
Scripture of the Week: Isaiah 49:16.
